Has it only been 3 1/2 years?? It seems like it was a lifetime ago. Besides the barrage of doctors I see on a regular basis to make sure I remain cancer-free, it really has become an issue of the past. I didn't believe it could happen.
I love that I still get comments on here- one every few months- from people who just found out they or someone they love has hodgkins or are being treated for hodgkins. I remember going to message boards and forums while I was sick to see how other people were handling the disease, see how many relapsed, etc. It was terrifying because nearly everyone had a story of relapse, or developing another kind of cancer. I relayed this to my mom and she told me that the only people who post on those types of things are people who have continuing issues; the people who go into remission and stay healthy don't need to keep posting.
I hope this serves as proof to others that you CAN be healthy again and life CAN be normal again...you just have to stay strong until you get there.

My name is Dianne and I found out I had Hodgkins Lymphoma Stage 2b coming up 10 years ago when I was 19. I am now 29 and going for my 10 year check up next month. I have to say apart from a pretty poor immune system I am very healthy, al;though I have started to notice my bones and joints are a little stiff for my age, not much of a price to pay though to be alive. It would be nice to see how others have progressed after being in remmision, others peoples stories and whether they have had any problems since. good luck and good health to all.

hi dianne! i've been looking for a support group that could possibly help me and my family in facing up to the challenge confronting us ahead: my 15 year old son was diagnosed as having hodgkin stage 3b 2 months ago.
he's now undergoing his 2nd cycle of a prescribed 6 cycle treatment. it isnt easy coping with a problem especially when it concerns your child. the whole family (my son, my wife and 2 other sons) is having a hard time dealing with things and it pains us to feel so hopeless abt how we could possibly beat this ailment out of my son's system. to hear similar stories will greatly help in enlightening us on how to best handle things. we may be oceans apart (my family lives in the philippines), the distance won't be a hurdle in the sharing of fruitful, meaningful ideas to each one. Congrats on your continuing remission. Just a note that I have sold lymphomainfo.net to a media company but the Hodgkin's Historical Timeline has been spun off into its own website http://www.hodgkinshistory.com/
Best wishes, Mike Re: 3 1/2 years ago....

Hi, I had Hodgkins when I was 19, I am now 28. I have been cancer free ever since. The only side effects I have are, my legs cramp up really bad at times, and I have hypothyroidism. Other than that, I am pretty healthy. I still cant believe it has been 9 years, it seems like it was just yesterday when I was in my doctors office hearing for the first time that I had hodgkins.

Hi Becky, Kim, etc.
It's great to hear these 'Victory' stories -- I was just browsing one guy's blog and clicked on a bunch of his links, and several of the people passed away quite quickly. Needless to say, that's a tad terrifying, so it's WONDERFUL to hear you're all doing so well. I've just finished 1 of 4 cycles, and so far so good. ;) Keep well and thanks for posting something so positive! - Brian Re: Re: Re: 3 1/2 years ago....

Hi there,
My name is Cherry Aslarona and was just diagnosed with Hodgkin's this past April. I've been meaning to stop by and leave a comment because when I was first diagnosed, it was your blog that I read first and was deeply inspired from it! =) You are such an inspiration! I hope things are going great for you! Take care! Re: Re: 3 1/2 years ago....

Hello! I'm writing a book on Hodgkin and nonHodgkin survivor stories... and I'd love to interview you. I'm looking for 7 case studies with all types of treatment modalities. An entire chapter in the book is devoted to each case study and the book will be used as an inspirational guide for those newly diagnosed. I'd really appreciate any help!
Thanks a Bunch! Re: Re: 3 1/2 years ago....

Liked this post, have been diagnosed with hodgkins nodular sclerosis IIa, going through chemo and then radiotherapy, The bad thing with internet is that you only read others stories and as your mum said, the people that post the most are the ones with the most problems, It´s also no guarantee that you get all the bad side effects of the treatment, Have done 1 chemo 2 weeks ago and I just got a bit tired, no illnes at all and my hair is still stuck on my head (also under my armpits and places where I wish it would go away =))
Hope people who just got diagnosed and are scared are reading this and sees that it´s not all bad! I hope I will go through with my treatment as smooth as the first chemo, with our without hair I dont care, keep healthy everyone! Trackbacks
